Incense Stick Packaging

During my undergraduate studies, I undertook a packaging design project that tasked me with conceiving and crafting a product design for a luxury brand. To meet the criteria, I directed my attention towards incense sticks, a preferred item for high-end Indian brands like Forrest Essentials and Kama. My primary objective was to create an aesthetically pleasing packaging design that not only conveyed a rich narrative but also delivered a gratifying tactile experience.

The genesis of my concept stems from the legendary tale of the "Panchkanya," which narrates the chronicle of five prominent women in Hindu mythology. Drawing inspiration from their sagas, I infused the fragrances of each woman's story into my product line, and the incense stick packaging prominently features illustrations of all five women. The five women, each representing distinct aromatic notes, come together to remind the user of their commonalities and differences. To give each scent a unique identity, I named them after the women themselves: Ahalya, Draupadi, Sita, Tara, and Mandodari. In keeping with the brand's Indian roots, I chose the Sanskrit name "TURIYA" for my brand, signifying a state of absolute consciousness.

This project was developed during my undergraduate studies at the National Institute of Fashion Technology, New Delhi.
